The M Awards program was begun by The M Foundation, a revolutionary non-profit initiative that received initial funding from MISSION Product Holdings, the world's leading producer of athlete-engineered skin care solutions, and its partner athletes.
The goal of The M Foundation is to enhance healthy athletic performance and to advance the common good through athletic achievement. The Foundation exists to support "Athletes on a Mission."
The M Foundation aims at two central goals: to EDUCATE and to INSPIRE. It educates through research and awareness initiatives, funding and directing innovative research studies with athletes and partners concerned with health-performance issues. It inspires through activation and recognition programs - anchored by The M Awards.
Through The M Foundation, some of the world's best athletes are working together to inspire "citizen-athletes" everywhere in a common mission: to make the world better as they make themselves and their teams better.
The M Foundation is directed by an Executive Board including Ray Sozzi (who is also The M Foundation's Executive Director), Jim Van Eerden (who serves as The M Awards Program Director), and Dr. Brian Adams (who serves as Research Director). Each serves on The M Award Selection Committee, along with Executive Director Cathy Cercena and a number of elite athletes from The M Foundation Advisory Board: Serena Williams, Dwyane Wade, David Wright, Georges St-Pierre, Amanda Beard, Gretchen Bleiler, Mia Hamm, Sergio Garcia, Ryan Sheckler, Sarah Haskins, Hunter Kemper, Alonzo Mourning and Jessica Mendoza.
The M Foundation is a 501(c)3 fund administered by Renaissance Charitable Trust, based in Indianapolis. The relationship with Renaissance has enabled The M Foundation to be entirely focused on achieving its goals, with minimal administrative overhead and best-of-class, third-party oversight relating to non-profit management and compliance matters.
MISSION Skincare and its co-founders will be donating 10% of all of the company’s pre-tax profits to The Foundation. To kick off the program, MISSION Skincare® and its athlete co-founders are committing $1M of initial funding over the course of four years, of which $250,000 is being presented to the foundation immediately. MISSION Skincare® will also donate 100% of the profits from all product sales at www.MissionSkincare.com for the next 60 days. MISSION Skincare also expects to announce funding partnerships with a number of its retail partners, several of the corporate partners of its athletes and other leading companies who share its vision and commitment to America’s young athletes.
